The development of blunaa.com over time — each version with its most important changes.
Visit statistics corrected: previously every server request was counted — including files the browser loads automatically with every page (app icon, offline file, favicon) as well as API calls and feeds. A single visit therefore appeared as five to six page views. From now on only real page views are counted. The data was always genuine, just counted wrongly; a tool cleans up the existing figures.
Language switching fixed: when switching between German and English, the menu and header stayed in the old language — the switcher was being intercepted by the fast page change, which only swaps the content area. Also fixed: in English the search still searched the German texts, and the page language was declared incorrectly for search engines and screen readers.
Important fix for the admin login: the credentials were read too early — before the configuration file had been loaded. As a result the default password silently applied and your own password was always rejected. Fixed. New: a security log in the admin area (filterable by level, event, IP) that additionally writes security-relevant events to a file that is blocked from outside, from a configurable level upwards. Player: playlists now sit in a dropdown instead of many tabs; "Good By Mum" is no longer first in the list.
Security: the server configuration (.htaccess) now additionally blocks the internal folders (page texts, tools, tests) as well as backup copies of the credentials file — the latter could otherwise have been retrieved via the browser. Directory listing disabled.
Important startup error fixed: if the configuration file (.env) on the server had been saved with a Windows editor and contained a special character (such as a long dash), reading it aborted — and with it ALL credentials were missing at once (SoundCloud error 503, admin login not working, sometimes a startup error). The application now reads the file in a different encoding if needed and warns instead of crashing. A new check-and-repair tool is included.
SoundCloud playlists: the player now also loads the playlists (sets) from the SoundCloud account — they appear as their own tabs in the playlist panel. Previously only the own uploads and likes were queried; playlists sit on a separate SoundCloud endpoint and were therefore missing entirely.
Important correction: an error in the translation tool had damaged words and addresses on the English pages ("SoundCloud" became "SoandCloud") — which meant the SoundCloud players did not load on the English pages. All English pages have been regenerated; the tool now only replaces complete text blocks. Also fixed: missing favicon and wrong icon paths (404 messages). New: the player now supports SoundCloud playlists.
Aufgeräumt: Die Entwicklungs- und Übersetzungswerkzeuge liegen jetzt in einem eigenen Ordner (tools/) statt lose im Hauptverzeichnis — mit Kurzanleitung und so gebaut, dass sie aus jedem Verzeichnis heraus funktionieren. Rein intern, keine sichtbare Änderung.
Die Oberfläche ist jetzt ebenfalls zweisprachig: Menü, Kopfleiste, Suchfeld und Player-Bedienung wechseln mit dem DE/EN-Umschalter mit. Bisher blieb das Menü auch auf Englisch deutsch.
Die Wetter-Kategorie (Flugwetter, Klima-Reanalyse, Wetterkarte), die Tutorials-Kategorie und die Volltextsuche sind jetzt auch in der statischen Notfall-Version (Strato) verfügbar. Außerdem behoben: Die Suche verwies bei drei Seiten (Camelot-Wheel, Downloads, Sitemap) auf falsche Ziele — ein Fehler in der Index-Erzeugung.
Alle übrigen Seiten (Startseite, Über mich, Musik, Kontakt, Galerie, Links, Fun, Impressum, Blog, Events, Technik) sind jetzt ebenfalls im Content-Speicher und auf Englisch verfügbar — damit ist die komplette Website zweisprachig und im Admin-Bereich bearbeitbar. Außerdem behoben: die Changelog-Einträge der Versionen v6.44–v6.51 fehlten auf dieser Seite.
Englische Übersetzung abgeschlossen: die letzten großen Guides (30-Tage- und 60-Tage-Flugguide, Digitale Signale) sowie dieses Änderungsprotokoll sind jetzt auf Englisch verfügbar. Damit ist die gesamte Seite über den DE/EN-Umschalter zweisprachig.

Englische Übersetzung startet: Die Seitentexte werden jetzt vollständig aus dem Content-Speicher geladen (statt fest im Template), und die ersten Seiten sind auf Englisch verfügbar — inklusive Seitentiteln. Der Umschalter DE/EN oben rechts wechselt die Sprache; noch nicht übersetzte Seiten zeigen weiterhin Deutsch. Die Volltextsuche kennt beide Sprachen.
New content architecture: page texts are now stored as editable building blocks (one source per text, no duplicate maintenance). In the admin area, texts can be edited and versioned per page. The basis for the English translation is in place — a language switcher (DE/EN) sits in the header, and missing translations fall back to German automatically.
Fix: the page design (boxes, cards, widget styles) now appears correctly when opened via the menu too — previously the page-specific styles only loaded on a direct page visit. On a page change, all design blocks of the target page are now applied.
Important fix: interactive pages (flight weather, climate, weather map, 3D viewer, calculators, etc.) now start reliably when opened via the menu too — previously some only ran on a direct page visit. There were two causes in the page change: an error in one widget blocked the others, and libraries were not loaded before their associated scripts. Both fixed and secured with tests for all interactive apps.
Internal security review of the new weather areas: data processing (only checked numeric values), a hardened Content Security Policy, integrity checking of the map library (SRI) and protected external links — all clean. No visible change.
Internal simplification review: reviewed the code of the new weather areas, removed one unused style rule. The deliberately self-contained widget structure remains (each widget loads independently and robustly). No visible change.
Internal consistency check: all pages, menu items, links and the search indexing of the new weather areas checked and coherent — no broken pages, no dead links. Purely internal, no visible change.
New weather map (OpenStreetMap): pick a location by clicking the map and jump straight to the flight weather or climate reanalysis for exactly that point. Handy for checking FPV spots.
New climate reanalysis section under Weather & Climate: historical weather data since 1940 from the ERA5 research dataset (ECMWF/Copernicus) — monthly average temperatures as a bar chart plus annual figures for any location.
New category "Tutorials & Courses": bundles the step-by-step learning paths from FPV and radio clearly in one place (with a difficulty rating), without duplicating the content. Light mode: contact form fields are now readable in the light design too. The flight-weather loading on a menu click was also further hardened.
Full-text search: the site search now searches the complete text content of all pages (previously only titles and keywords) and shows matching snippets with the hit highlighted. This way you also find details buried deep in a guide.
Flight weather now loads when opened via the menu too (previously only on a direct page visit) — page widgets are reliably restarted on every page change. The numbers in the coloured matrix cells are darker and therefore easier to read.
Flight weather redesigned as a matrix: metrics as rows, days as columns, each cell green/amber/red — plus a card per day with bullet points (what speaks for/against) and more modern buttons. Also fixed: page widgets sometimes did not start when navigating by click (pjax); page scripts are now loaded reliably. The collapsible menu was removed again.
The page menu can now be collapsed to a narrow icon bar (arrow button at the top of the sidebar) — more room for content. The state is remembered; hovering over the icons shows each name.
New category "Weather & Climate" with a 7-day flight-weather widget for FPV: wind, gusts, precipitation and cloud cover as a traffic light (good/marginal/unsuitable), live data from Open-Meteo (models from DWD, NOAA, ECMWF and others) — no account or API key. Linked with weather-satellite reception.
Cleanup: removed unused legacy files and orphaned CSS remnants from earlier rebuilds (dead router, old topbar and section-dot styles). Purely internal — no visible change, but leaner, more consistent code.
Menu groups are collapsed on the first visit (only the current page's group is open). Expanded/collapsed groups are remembered per visitor, so navigation starts tidier and remembers your own choice.
Track order: "Good By Mum" is no longer shown first in the player list but sorted into 4th place (robust — if the track is missing, the list stays unchanged). Secured with tests.
Small cleanup: the section navigation dots on the right edge of the home page were removed (the scroll progress bar at the top stays). The track order in the player still follows the SoundCloud page.
Home-page topbar aligned: a relic of the old home-page header overrode the central topbar (52px instead of 44px, its own colour). Removed — the home page now uses the same topbar as all other pages, with a flush top margin.
Polish after the architecture rebuild: fixed a double left margin (content sat a whole sidebar width too far right — the old and new layout systems had added up). Set the top edge of the content flush below the topbar. Changed the topbar colour to a darker, calmer blue.
Large architecture unification: all pages now share ONE common framework (central sidebar, topbar and base CSS) instead of the previous 37 slightly differing copies. This fixes inconsistent menus/widths at the root, makes changes effective in one place, and shows the version number in the topbar and footer. Strato remains a static fallback for standalone pages.
Mixed state when clicking through fixed: when switching between main pages (Home, Bio, Blog …) and sub-pages (FPV, radio, tools), the page previously only partially reloaded, mixing the layout and CSS of two pages. Such type changes now fully reload cleanly; within one type, the fast switch is retained.
Made page changes more robust: an error during a change now always resets the loading state (incl. a 5s safety net), so fast clicking no longer blocks the page. Script and enhancer calls are encapsulated.
Offline mode (Flask) fixed: the service worker's pre-cache list pointed to wrong paths (/shared-nav.css instead of /static/css/...), so nothing was pre-cached. Paths corrected — core assets are now available offline. Strato was not affected.
Content typography centralised (content.css): headings, tables, code blocks and body text are no longer defined inline per page but centrally. Eliminates subtle typography jumps when clicking through (the same cause as the layout shift) and unifies the look of all pages.
Security: removed two publicly accessible copies of the internal project documentation from the static folder (they bypassed the login protection of the /docs page). The protected docs route remains unchanged behind the admin login.
Layout rebuild completed (all pages): the page layout is controlled centrally throughout via .page-main instead of inline per page. This means no page CSS can spill onto other pages when clicking through — the shifting is structurally fixed.

Shifting when clicking through finally fixed: a faulty inline script on a page aborted the page change and left the layout half-finished. Script execution is now encapsulated, and the change always completes cleanly.
