Weather & Climate

Real flight weather, wind data and scientific climate data — prepared from open sources of the German Weather Service (DWD) and international weather models. No frills, just the values that actually matter for FPV flights, antenna work and satellite reception.

Where the data comes from

All values come from open, scientifically grounded sources — not commercial weather widgets, but the raw data of the national weather services:

  • Open-Meteo — bundles the models of NOAA (GFS), DWD (ICON), ECMWF (IFS) and other national services. Free, no sign-up. Also provides the ERA5 climate reanalysis going back to 1940.
  • Bright Sky / DWD — the official open data of the German Weather Service as a simple interface. The German official standard, ideal for Berlin/Brandenburg.
  • For research: If you want to analyse the raw data yourself, you will find it at the DWD Climate Data Center and at the Copernicus Climate Data Store (ERA5).
How this connects to the rest of the site: The flight weather complements the FPV section (when can I fly?) and the weather satellite reception (clear passes need good weather).
